Transportation Services Available – including Complimentary COVID Testing & Vaccine Trips


Complimentary COVID Testing & COVID Vaccine Transportation

Middletown Transit District (MAT) provides complimentary COVID Testing and COVID Vaccine transportation trips.

The service provides accessible transportation within the Middletown Area Transit service area and is available 7 days per week. It is available to all residents within the Middletown Transit District. Participant’s taxi rides to designated COVID Testing and COVID Vaccine sites within the Middletown Transit District are paid 100% and will be available until June 30, 2021 or until funding is exhausted.

Service Area

The trip must begin in one of the following towns: Middletown, Middlefield, East Hampton, Portland and Durham. To use the Complimentary COVID Testing and COVID Vaccine Transportation, find a testing site within the Middletown Transit District.


Up to three (3) companions, including a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), may ride for free with the eligible rider. The eligible rider and companions must have the same origin and destination.

COVID Precautions

All riders are required to wear a mask. The vehicles are equipped with front to back protection barriers. After each ride, the vehicle is wiped down with disinfectant wipes.

How To Book A Trip

You may book a trip by calling the taxi provider:

Reservations may be made between Monday – Friday,  9:00 AM – 1:30 PM, at least one day in advance.

The vehicle will provide wait and return service, and can be used for drive through vaccination sites.

A wheelchair accessible vehicle will be provided upon request.  MTD reserves the right to limit number of uses per individual.



Middletown Area Transit (MAT) provides in-county trips.  This service can be used for medical appointments, shopping, banking, and other places.

This service is a curb-to-curb transportation for the elderly and disabled residents of Durham, Middlefield, and Rockfall to appointments in Middlefield, Durham, Middletown, Portland, and East Hampton.  This service is available 6 days a week, Monday – Saturday, 8:30AM-4:00PM.

How To Book A Trip

Please note there is an application that must be completed beforehand. It can be found at Middletown Area Transit under ADA/DIAL-A-RIDE, or contact the Human Services office at 860-346-0212 for a hard copy.  Then, reservations can be made two days in advance by calling MAT at 860-346-0212 and pressing 2.  Fare is $3.50 each way.  Appointments are based on availability.

Out-of-County Medical Trips

Middletown Area Transit (MTA) provides out-of-county medical trips.

This service is a curb-to-curb transportation for older adults and disabled residents of Durham, Middlefield, and Rockfall to out-of-county medical appointments on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

How To Book A Trip

72 hours notice is required for out-of-county medical trips. Under current circumstances booking is available up to 3 months in advance. Please call 860-346-0212 and press 2.  Please mention what town you are calling from and what type of trip you are looking to book. If you do not hear from MAT one day before your planned trip, please contact them to confirm.
