New Dog Licenses

  • Puppies must be licensed within 30 days of turning 6 months old.
  • Adult dogs must be licensed within 30 days of obtaining them.
  • Fees: Licenses not within 30 days are subject to a $1 per month penalty. The fee for a license is $19 for an unaltered dog, and $8 for a spayed or neutered dog.
  • Rabies: Rabies vaccination must be current and paperwork from a veterinarian must be provided.
  • Spay/Neuter: Documentation from a veterinarian must be provided.
  • Registering: You may register in person at the Town Clerk's office or by mail. If registering by mail, please enclose the "Dog Licensing Info and Form", a check or money order, and applicable documents. All documents will be returned to you.

Renewals

June is Dog License Month! All dog licenses must be renewed in the month of June each year. A postcard is sent out at the beginning of June as a reminder.

Rabies: Rabies vaccination must be current. If the rabies vaccination has expired since the previous year's license, you must provide paperwork from a veterinarian of the new rabies expiration date.

Spay/Neuter: If the dog spayed or neutered since the previous year's license you must provide documentation from your veterinarian.

Transfers

If your dog is currently licensed in a Connecticut town and you move to Middlefield, you can transfer the dog's license for a $0.50 fee.

If your dog is currently licensed in Connecticut and you become the new owner, you can transfer the dog's license for a $1 fee.

Lost tags

If your dog loses its tag, a replacement can be obtained for $0.50
